New Service Offer from e-Accounting: Session Shadowing This capability has been developed especially for our accountants and Advisors who want to work even closer with their clients by offering instantaneous online assistance and training services. By using the virtual desktop, you can connect directly to the session of any client or team member running the hosted application service (the virtual desktop or the AccountingStation service). This capability – called "session shadowing" – allows you to share the screen with your online client, and lets you have control of the mouse and keyboard, too. It’s just like remote control, but it’s better because you’re both already online working together on the e-Accounting servers. With just a click of the mouse, you can be controlling your client session and helping them directly. This service is based on the same technology that allows our support teams to connect to your online session to resolve technical problems or assist with training and service orientation. Not only does shadowing improve your ability to work with your clients, but it also opens up training and support opportunities that you might be missing! How it works You and your client are both logged in to the e-Accounting online application service – you have a virtual desktop, and your client has either a virtual desktop or the AccountingStation (QuickBooks Pro-only) service. We show you, the "shadower", how to find the session number of your online client. You simply launch the shadow tool we provided on your virtual desktop, and enter the session number of the user you wish to connect with.
A prompt appears on the user screen, allowing them to authorize the shadow. Then… viola! You’re connected to that user session – you see what your client sees, and you can move the mouse and type on the keyboard right in their online session! No more fumbling around while you try to walk your client through certain tasks… now you can SHOW them right on their screen. And troubleshooting becomes a snap when you can actually see what the problem is and what the client is trying to do. Shadowing is being made available to TOP-LEVEL account holders only (accountants, bookkeeping organizations…), and is priced based on the number of online client accounts that are set up to be shadowed. There is a one-time setup and a monthly service fee for the support and maintenance of the shadowing application, which provides you with the ability to shadow an unlimited number of client seats. Once your account is setup to shadow users, we will automatically grant to you shadowing permissions for any client accounts you subscribe under your file system (accounts specified as clients of your e-Accounting practice).
