Frequently
Asked Questions
About Hosted Application Services
This
page contains answers to common questions handled by our staff,
along with some tips and tricks that we have found useful and
presented here as questions.
Connect
to my application service?
Simply click on the .ICA link provided by InsynQ support.
You can launch the service using a Windows desktop client program,
or link directly to the service from a Website using the browser
plug-in. Browser technology is used to initiate the branded
service when it is launched from your branded
desktop delivery system.
If
you're having problems connecting, run the PING-TEST to make
sure you're getting through to us. Click
here to download/run the ping test applet. This
will take approximately 3 minutes to run.
Logoff
from my virtual desktop? logoff from your virtual
desktop the same way you would logoff from a network.
Simply click the Windows start button on your virtual
desktop, and click log off.
Transfer
files between the virtual system and my local system?
Using your virtual system is very similar to your local
Windows desktop. If you have the AccountingStation QuickBooks
Pro service, simply backup your files to your c-drive from inside
the QuickBooks application. If you have the virtual desktop
service, you can use the Windows Explorer to open a window to
your virtual file system and another window to your local file
system. Simply select, drag and drop your files between
the two environments.
Print
from the application service? You will be able to print
only if your virtual system and local system both have the necessary
printer driver installed. The general rule of thumb: if
your local PC can print to your printer, your virtual system
should be able to. In some cases, certain printer types
are not fully supported by the virtual system. This occurs
rarely - we are usually able to make just about any printer
function with this service. If printing has been established,
simply press print from your application. If your
printer doesn't show up or doesn't seem to be working, click
here...

My
printer get created when I login; or why won't it print if it
did get created? Creating your printer connection
requires that your computer have a unique name on our network.
This way, our servers can distinguish between your printer and
somebody else's. In order for printer auto-creation to
happen, your computer must have a unique name, without special
characters or spaces. Give your computer a name including
your company name, such as "IQFRONT" or "INSYNQLAPTOP".
Caution: If your computer is acting as a print server
or file server on your local network (e.g., other computers
share files on your computer or use the printer attached to
your computer), then you will need to change the setup on those
computers if your change the name on yours. Otherwise,
the other computers will not know how to locate your drives
or printers by the new name.
Change
the computer name in Windows 95/98: right-click Network
Neighborhood on the local desktop and select properties.
Open the identification tab and change the computer
name. Restart the computer for the change to take affect.
Change
the computer name in Windows 2000/XP: right-click
My Computer on the local desktop and select properties.
Open the Network Indentification page, and click the
properties button to change the workstation name.
Make sure to leave the workgroup name unchanged.
Run
our program to change your computer name: Our engineers
have created a little application to change your computer
name. Please use caution when using this utility - especially
if you share resources on a local network! Click
here to download/run our applet.
